Project Overview
Project Overview
The National Disabled Women Association (NDWA) is leading a multi-year campaign to promote inclusive policies and accessibility rights for women and girls with disabilities across Nepal. The initiative combines advocacy, community engagement, and partnerships to drive lasting policy and social change.
Main Focus and Actions
The project aims to reform laws and policies to protect the rights of women with disabilities, build their leadership capacity, and ensure their participation in decision-making. NDWA engages with all government levels, conducts research, organizes campaigns, and trains women in advocacy and rights education. Collaboration with civil society, international partners, and donors helps strengthen coordination and amplify advocacy efforts.
Results and Progress
The project targets passage of at least five inclusive laws, training of over 1,000 women with disabilities, and their representation in 50+ decision-making bodies. Since its launch in 2023, NDWA has influenced three provincial laws, trained more than 450 women, formed networks in five provinces, organized over 20 community events, and partnered with 15 government agencies.
Budget and Support
With a total budget of USD 800,000, the initiative is supported by donors and development partners working to advance disability rights and gender equality in Nepal.
